Roland D. Sawyer Scholarship

PURPOSE: Scholarship for an undergraduate or graduate student in any relevant discipine who has proposed a research project in an area reflecting one of Rev. Sawyer’s interests. The student may be a candidate for either a bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. but other things being equal, preference will be given to doctoral students. It is expected that the student will make at least some use of the Sawyer Collection and applicants will be judged in part upon the extent to which the Collection will be utilized. AREAS OF INTEREST include but are not limited to: Reform movements of the Progressive Era, the Anti-Profanity League, Massachusettes State politics in the Progressive Era, New Hampshire state politics in the Progressive Era, the Populist Party, the Socialist Party, Massachusetts State Government 1914-1942, The Presidency of Calvin Coolidge, Walt Whitman, Congregationalism 1890-1950, Liberal Protestantism and liberal-radical political movements, Local history (selected NH and MA towns)
