Young Dawkins III Prize in Creative Writing

The purpose of the ‘Young P. Dawkins III Endowed Prize in Creative Writing’ is to provide annual awards to the graduating student with the most outstanding final portfolio in the “Writing Option” within the UNH English Department’s Master of Arts (M.A.) degree program. Awards will be based solely on merit. The UNH English Department is now in the process of developing a three-year, Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) program in Writing, with the plan of phasing out the existing two-year “Writing Option” within the existing M.A. in English program. At the point the M.F.A. comes into existence, the ‘Young P. Dawkins III Prize in Creative Writing’ will instead be awarded to the graduating student with the most outstanding thesis in the M.F.A. program. The English Department faculty shall be responsible for the selection of scholarship recipients. The Financial Aid office will be responsible for administering all awards from this fund.
