Hamel Scholarship

NOTE: FOR AWARDING JUNIOR HAMELS ONLY PURPOSE: Renewable merit-based scholarships for high-achieving UNH students. CRITERIA: Residents of NH entering their first year at the University and be enrolled in the Honors Program. A minimum 3.2 GPA is required in order to receive and retain the scholarship. In addition to the academic requirements of maintaining a 3.2 GPA, students must show leadership and civic or community participation as well as the following characteristics: curiosity, humility, honor, compassion and an interest in engaging with student programs. Awards are meant to be renewable for the students second, third and fourth years of full-time enrollment at UNH, i.e. students are meant to have the scholarship for a maximum of 4 years or 8 semesters of undergraduate enrollment as long as they meet the above standards. Additional very worthy students from the Honors Program may be chosen and named as Hamel Scholars and awarded Hamel Scholarships following their second or third year at UNH. These students should be from a highly selective group within the Honors Program. ADMIN: If students do not meet or exceed these standards, the Director of the Honors Program in consultation with the Office of the Provost has the authority to rescind the HSHSP Scholarship. All recipients of the HSHSP Scholarship will be considered Hamel Scholars. SELECTION: Provost and the Senior Vice Provost, or designee, in consultation with the Director of Admissions, or designee, shall be responsible for the selection of Hamel Scholarship Recipients and Hamel Scholars.
