Tommy Gallant Scholarship Fund

PURPOSE: Scholarships for undergraduate or graduate students who are deemed to have the potential to reach a high level of achievement as performers, demonstrating the values of jazz feeling, imagination, historical awareness and commitment exemplified by Tommy Gallant. Preference for pianists and for students who demonstrate financial need. In the absence of a qualified pianist, another rhythm section member (guitarist, bassist or percussionist) may be considered. SELECTION: Committee chaired by the UNH Jazz Band Director or other individuals responsible for UNH jazz programs and, if possible, should include individuals familiar with the nature of Tommy Gallant’s musical accomplishments and contributions to the local jazz culture, and the need for preservation and perpetuation of traditional jazz music.
